A proud Alaskan Transplant! He joined the US Army in 2008 as an Airborne Infantryman. His first duty assignment was Alaska and as he puts it, "It's the last place I wanted to be stationed, but now it's the only place I want to be!" Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, this desert boy grew up riding all over the Southwest. Matt's BMX background helped his transition into being a strong technical MTB rider who thoroughly enjoys challenging himself by riding all stunts, jumps, and bumps! Matt is heavily involved within Alaska's bicycling community through volunteer work with several bike advocacy groups, trail building, coaching for Mighty Bikes, and educating people on all aspects relating to bicycles. Matt currently works as a bike mechanic for REI Anchorage. He loves his family and appreciates spending time with them... Especially when it's done on two wheels. If not found on a bike, at work, or volunteering, you're likely to catch him at the University of Alaska where he's working on finishing his Masters of Arts in Teaching.
